Pebble and quartz finishes mix aggregate into the cement base. Quartz finishes stay relatively smooth and add sparkle and color depth; pebble finishes have a textured, natural feel and are often chosen for a lagoon or resort look.

Because Escondido pools spend a long season in direct sun, many owners use a resurface as the moment to move from standard plaster to an aggregate finish. We help you compare feel, color, and maintenance so the choice fits how you use your pool.

Signs You May Need Pebble & Quartz Pool Finishes

  • Your current plaster is due for replacement anyway
  • You want a different water color
  • You prefer a textured or natural stone look
  • You want a finish that hides minor staining better

How the Process Works

  1. Compare samples. See quartz and pebble samples in different colors and textures.
  2. Prep the shell. The old surface is removed or prepared so the new finish bonds.
  3. Apply and expose. The aggregate finish is applied, then washed to expose the stone or quartz.
  4. Refill. The pool is refilled and balanced, with care instructions for the first weeks.

Pebble & Quartz Pool Finishes FAQs

Is pebble rougher on feet than plaster?

Pebble finishes have more texture than plaster. Smaller pebble sizes and polished options feel smoother. Quartz finishes are closer to plaster in feel. Touching samples during your estimate helps.

Does the finish color change the water color?

Yes. Lighter finishes produce lighter, brighter water and darker finishes produce deeper blue or lagoon tones, and sunlight changes the effect through the day.

Can a pebble finish go over my old plaster?

Sometimes, if the existing surface is sound and properly prepared. Failing or delaminated plaster has to be removed first. This is checked during the estimate.
